Brighton Area Schools (B.A.S.) is initiating a district managed community based youth swim program beginning in the fall of 2017 at its newly built 12 lane aquatics center. B.A.S. is currently accepting resumes for the Head Coaching position for this program. The head coach in conjunction with the aquatics director will have the resources and opportunity to build a first class swim program from the entry level up through high school. The districts goals in starting this program are to provide top quality instruction at all levels of its aquatics programming in a structure that provides symmetry between youth levels and school programs in a manner that delivers students with a meaningful and positive experience throughout their tenure in swimming.

B.A.S. has an average enrollment of 6,000 + students, K-12, and is a district that is committed to excellence in all that it offers the community. The district is located between the metropolitan areas of Detroit and Lansing. Thirty minutes to the south lies the city of Ann Arbor. Due to its location and the convenience of two major expressways, Brighton has become a “bedroom community” of all of these major metropolitan areas. The county is the fastest growing county per capita and economically in the state of Michigan.

Posting Window: July 12th – July 28th or until filled.

Term: 9/12 month position includes weekend responsibilities, exact schedule TBD by the needs of the program.

Salary: Negotiable within a range of $18.00 - $26.00 an hour based on experience.

The districts goals in starting this program are to provide top quality instruction at all levels of its aquatics programming in a structure that provides symmetry between youth levels and school programs in a manner that delivers students with a meaningful and positive experience throughout their tenure in swimming.

Job Description
Greenwich Academy is seeking a head swim coach for its swimming and diving program. The coach is responsible for the entire program, grades 7-12, designing and implementing a training regimen that meets the needs of all swimmers. At the varsity level, implementing racing strategy in both dual and invitational meets to allow for success is critical. The qualified applicant will have excellent communication skills and will be a terrific role model for young women as well as having experience as a swimmer and proven success as a coach at the club or interscholastic level. Knowledge of the Hy-Tek program and experience with a touch pad timing system as well being a Certified Pool Operator are a plus. A successful candidate will work cooperatively and collegially with Greenwich Academy’s brother school, Brunswick, with which the school shares a pool. Greenwich Academy is a member of the Fairchester Athletic Association and competes in all sports against the top independent schools in New England. At all times, the coach is expected to model and inspire others to follow the School’s motto, Toward the Building of Character.
