IMPORTANT!! NFHS Suit Rule Change Thursday, January 26, 2017

IMPORTANT COMMUNICATION FROM THE NFHS REGARDING SUIT MANUFACTURERS LOGOS.

In August 2016, each state association administrator responsible for swimming and diving received a memo from the NFHS office regarding an editorial change that was made to Rule 3-3-2c for the 2016-17 NFHS Swimming and Diving Rules Book.  The change clarifies that a single visible manufacturer’s logo/trademark/reference, no more than 21Ž4 square inches with no dimension more than 21Ž4 inches is permitted on each item of the uniform.  The underlined phrase that was added to the rule had been inadvertently omitted in a previous edition of the NFHS Swimming and Diving Rules Book.

It has come to our attention that at least one manufacturer was not notified about the editorial change in a timely manner. While their current manufacturer’s logo meets the size specifications listed in the above rule for the 2015-16 season, it does not meet Rule 3-3-2c criteria including the editorial change that was made for the 2016-17 season.  Therefore, the NFHS will provide a one year extension concerning the size restrictions relative to the manufacturer’s logo.  To reiterate, a single visible manufacturer’s logo/trademark/reference, no more than 21Ž4 square inches is permitted on each item of the uniform through the 2016-17 season.

Swimoutlet.com Interscholastic Coach of the Month Monday, October 24, 2016

Thanks to our partners at Swimoutlet.com who honor a different High School coach each month.

This month’s SwimOutlet.com Coach of the Month spotlights Jim Svoboda, a seasoned head coach at Klein High School in Houston, Texas. Congrats!

Name: Jim Svoboda
School: Klein High School
Hometown: Houston, TX
Years Coaching: 5 years as Head Coach
Biggest Team Success: In 2015, Klein High broke Texas State record in Boy’s 400 Free Relay
Favorite Thing About Coaching: Watching the athlete develop as a swimmer as well as a person in learning life lessons through the ups and downs of practices and competitions.
Favorite Drill for Your Team: Klein Free Drill in cooperates four different drills.  The first is 6-kick switch, 2nd is thumb up the side, 3rd is fingertip drag, and the 4th is 6 kicks while their arm is moving.  I want the swimmers to think during the drill, so that they can feel the change in their strokes.

Congratulations, Coach Svoboda!
